I decided to continue sharing art via DA. Most works appear on my IG and Fb pages fist but I though it would be nice to continue filling the gallery here Heart  After all, DA community still feels like home :aww:

This time I won't post a convention schedule. I don't have any plans for the upcoming year but I truly want to devote more time to my art in every possible way.

Plans and Cons

2 min read
While I'm working on new cotumes (with no time for shooting old ones lol), here's a list of cons I'm planning to attend this year:

  • 25 March - Animau (Ufa, Russia)
  • 22 - 23 April - Hinode Power Japan (Moscow, Russia)
  • 29 April - 1 May - Moscow Comic Convention
  • 9 - 11 June - C4 Anime Convention (the Hague, Netherlands)
  • 2 - 3 September - Cyprus Comic Con (Nicosia)
  • 10 - 11 September - NowJapan (Vilnius, Lithuania)
  • 29 September - 1 October - Igromir / Comic Con Russia (Moscow)
Plus some cons in St. Peterburg in summer and autumn once I have time and new costumes to show.

A few words about Rachnee shoot. It was an honour for me to work with such a talented CG artist and photographer like JustMoolti. And I'm hell anxious to see the full result of the photoshoot! La la la la Combination of CG and photography is a relatively new technique in cosplay, but it offers immense opportunities for creation of photorealistic surreal artwork.

One more thing I wanted to tell, I'm currently working on tutorials and 3D models for Patreon, you might want to check this out^^ www.patreon.com/alex_r… Most models are open for download right after signup. I also made a thorough tutorial on Vi gloves, I remember people here asking me make one)

Took me a while to figure things out with my life... A lot of things happened, good and bad, but I'm trying to stay positive and to continue my work no matter what ^^
So, let's move to the positive news!

In August I won first place at Panicon festival in Kaliningrad and became the Russian representative at Eurocosplay contest held at MCM London Comic Con!!!  With my Bloodmoon Kalista costume!
In October I travelled to London for the first time in my life. And God I loved everything! The convention, the people, the city... It was a true miracle in my life. I wish I could stay there forever. Moreover, I WON THE THIRD PLACE!!! Can you believe that? Successfully presenting your country at an international event is a great honor. I knew people from Russia were watching me at that moment and I'd like to thank everyone once again for their support. For me it was one of the greatest events in my life.

In October I also visited Igromir/Comic Con Russia held in Moscow, I made my I-No cosplay for this event. The convention was so-so but I had a great time meeting new people and taking photos :3 There's not much to tell, the costume took me about a month, it's made of laquer fabric (which I really hate, too hard to work with), the guitar was bought at second-hand online shop, carefully restored and repainted :) I had two photoshoots, I'll post the second one once I recieve full-size photos from the photographer. Knowing his style, it's gonna be HOT Love

Aaaand the last: I finally opened my Patreon. You can take a look yourself: patreon.com/alex_reiss
I worked for a long time on the system of tiers, now it is ready and you can choose any that you like) There's even a tier that lets you choose cosplay for me!
I stick to a strict posting plan, there will constanly be all types of updates, including tutorials and exclusive photos. By signing up you'll get access to all existing patrons-only posts for your tier :3
I hope that by means of crowdfunding I'll get a chance to devote more time to my hobby. I often used to get carried away by my job and freelance projects - cosplay demands huge amounts of money for materials only, sometimes I could hardly handle that. Now Patreon is my real chance to devote time to things I love. And it can all be possible with your support

Thank you for reading! ^___^

Good day to everyone, this month I'm bringing in a new large-scale project! This time it's Bloodmoon Kalista from League of Legends! Being a fully western (considering geography) fandom, LoL brings in beautiful eastern motives. This skin is based on elements from Noh and Kabuki theaters. I truly enjoyed making it and I hope you'll like what came out in the end! I already showed it at Moscow Comic Convention and at Starcon convention in St. Petersburg, the prizes I won so far were "Special prize from MCC" and "Best costume in nomination: Games" :3 The photoshoot will probably be somewhere in October (I hate to wait myself, but it's sure worth it - this time I want to work with a specific photographer who does miracles out of air). The costume's creation took a year and icluded all kinds of techniques - from basic papier-mache to advanced 3D-print. Tutorials, models and thorough explanations will be on my Patreon, which I'm working on right now :) I hope you'll love this cosplay as much as I do!

(I'd love to add pictures to this post but my premium membership is over and the dollar exchange rate went mad since the economic collapse started T___T)

Hi everyone! I'm back and I have a whole pack of photos that I'd love to share with you =D LoL, SAO, Macross, Canaan, Nanoha - lots of photoshoots I haven't shared yet. But first things first! The big project I've been working on since autumn is League of Legends Officer VI . Together with Lykanka we made these costumes to work at Igromir/ComicCon Russia :3 The main idea was to have costumes that would match. That is why we chose the officer uniforms instead of classic skins. Had lots of fun :3 Some photos from the event:

The process of making... umm.. very fast, to tell the truth x) I had, like, only 15 days to make the powerfists. That's why they are a bit unfinished on the convent photos Sweating a little...  Plus about two weeks for the uniform. I hope the collage gives the idea how the fists were made Meow :3  The materials were PVC plastic, penoplex, yoga mat and some eva-foam. Paited with aerosol acrylic paint. The final weight was about 3kg/each. Not so heavy when you pick them up but BLOODY HEAVY after 6 hours of carrying them around X__x

The costume seemed insane to me at first! I mean, I've never made anything of the "sexy" type for conventions, not mentioning that this one was a REALLY LARGE SCALE event Oh Noes! Thousands of people every day! I used to have complexes about my body and I really needed courage to go out there wearing a top that barely covers me. My gf kept saying "C'mon, don't be so shy! You look great!" Aaaand I made it! By the end of the first day I felt tired but extremely satisfied. This cosplay became an act of accepting my own body the way it is Heart

Later I attended more events as Officer, including Riot Games official event in Moscow :D (Big Grin) Hopefully, it won't be the last one)))

And a small late annoncement. Remember Black Lotus from the previous update? =D Well, on the 26th of October 2014 it won THE GRAND PRIZE OF AVA EXPO held in Saint Petesburg! The competition was held among 300 participants. The main prize was 50k rubles plus gifts from the sponsors. The scheme was close to the one used on EuroCosplay - the raiting of each participant combined scores recieved after inspection of the costume by the judges and scores recieved for the performance. God, I couldn't believe my ears when the results were announced! It seemed a miracle back then. (I know I'm half a year late with the news but I really wanted to share this big moment of my life^^) Some photos from the Expo to finish it all: Love
